With a bit of spare time to kill in and around Victoria, I spent some time in the City, along the regional trails, and checking in on early construction work for our ISL project at Uptown in Saanich that will support RapidBus and active transportation…

In the first week of March I was in Edmonton to share some ‘Lessons from the Dutch’ with the audience at the Consulting Engineers of Alberta Transportation Connects Conference, but I found a bit of time to wander around the city and take some photos of people getting around in the cold, maybe not as cold as prior weeks, but still minus temperatures…

Another local bike ride with the long lens capturing some fresh updates to the Central Valley Greenway on my morning commute, then a few photos from a quick trip to Downtown Vancouver after work taking in some Seawall scenes and neighbourhood bikeways…

Dutch designs, even Dutch levels of ridership during the BC Land Summit bike tour… Catching up on Metral Drive after a year or two, as we take a bike ride through Nanaimo on the new Evo bike share bikes, taking in some multi-use pathways, protected bike lanes, protected intersections and continuous sidewalks and bike paths.

With a few hours to kill around Downtown Vancouver, I took a spin around on the bike, where I thought I’d try and find some classic waterfront views. Not my typical post, but sometimes it’s nice just to enjoy the view… There’s still some good traffic free bike infrastructure though…

If cargo bike moms and dads are the indicator species of bicycle network safety and connectivity… then Victoria is pretty safe and connected... On this whistle stop tour of some of the city’s bike infrastructure, they were everywhere.

From red bike lanes, continuous sidewalks and nearside signals in Canmore, to pedestrian bridges and a new woonerf in Banff. These mountain towns are showing that a bit of snow and winter conditions is no excuse not to do good things with your streets…

Well, sort of… this blog post is less about super wide bike lanes, and more super wide photographs of them. But like usual, there are lots of bike lanes, and some other interesting things along the way…

Featuring the things that didn’t fit in a nice neat place of their own, from infrastructure to lifestyle, to simply nice or interesting photos I took along the way. There’s still a few stories to tell… It’s a long one…
